Attention Engineers/Inspectors:

Meet the Expert with more than 40 years of experience in corrosion & risk-based inspection - Murry Funderburg!
In today's operating environment, it's not enough to base future inspection plan only on prior recorded/known history of equipment condition.

A fundamental understanding of the process/operating conditions and resulting damage mechanisms are required in order to publish and maintain the highest probability of detecting potential damage.

Do you know that Corrosion increases with increasing NH4HS concentration and increasing velocity?

Do you know that oxygen and iron in the water can lead to increased corrosion and fouling? And the presence of cyanides increases the severity of corrosion?

After attending the API 571 class, you will be able to:

  • Understand general damage mechanisms applicable to the industry
  • Describe damage mechanisms on high-temperature corrosion including oxidation, sulfidation, carburization and metal dusting
  • Determine corrosion rate, location and opportunities for mitigation and so on

Industry focused on consequence alone without considering the probability. RBI will determine what incident (consequence) could occur and how likely (probability) is that event to happen.

After attending API 580/581 class, you will be able to:

  • Document method for determining Probability of Failure (POF)
  • Document method for determining Consequence of Failure (COF)
  • Document method for managing risk through inspection or other methods and many more
