Marking the first largest API Technical Awareness symposium of its kind in Southeast Asia focused on the combined API 510 and API 570 format, IDC Training House Sdn. Bhd. made history in Bintulu, Sarawak, with the successful delivery of the API 510 & API 570 Technical Awareness Symposium (Sarawak Edition) from 7–9 September 2026.
The three-day symposium brought together 103 participants across two venues, creating a significant milestone for IDC Training House and demonstrating strong industry interest in technical competency, professional development and knowledge exchange. Days 1 and 2 were conducted at Imperial Hotel Bintulu, while Day 3 continued at ADTEC JTM Kampus Bintulu with practical exposure, demonstrations and TVET-industry engagement.
The opening programme was officiated by Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development. The symposium also received government and media attention highlighting the importance of developing technically skilled and industry-ready professionals to support Sarawak’s growing industrial requirements.
The scale of the event was strengthened by participation and representation connected to major industry organisations including PETROS, PETRONAS, Sarawak Shell, Sarawak Petchem, PTTEP and Sarawak Energy, alongside engineering contractors, inspection organisations, technical-service companies, educators, students and emerging technical professionals.
Across the three-day programme, participants were exposed to technical areas covering pressure vessels, process piping, API 510 and API 570 awareness, ASME and API code context, equipment lifecycle, inspection planning, shutdown preparation, damage mechanisms, NDT, fitness-for-service awareness, repair and replacement considerations and professional competency pathways.
The symposium went beyond technical sessions. Through collaboration with ADTEC JTM Kampus Bintulu, Refra Dinamik, IHRC International Certification Sdn. Bhd., TVS and other participating organisations, the event brought together technical education, industry participation, professional competency pathways, exhibition activity and media visibility within one platform.
The exhibition and networking environment further created opportunities for participating companies and local businesses to engage directly with delegates, showcase their capabilities, discuss industry requirements and build relationships with engineers, inspectors, technicians and other professionals. What began as a technical symposium became a wider meeting point connecting people, industry, knowledge and opportunity.
The significance of Bintulu, however, goes beyond the number 103.
The achievement demonstrated that industry-focused technical content can mobilise a strong cross-industry audience outside the traditional Klang Valley conference circuit. It also demonstrated IDC Training House’s ability to bring together industry professionals, technical institutions, partners, service providers and emerging talent around a shared commitment to technical competency and workforce development.
But Bintulu was not the finish line. It created the momentum for what comes next.
Following this milestone, IDC Training House is carrying that momentum forward to Putrajaya through the upcoming Global Asset Integrity & Inspection Summit 2026 (GAIIS 2026), taking place from 11–13 November 2026 at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Malaysia.
While the Bintulu symposium established a strong platform around API 510 and API 570 technical awareness, GAIIS 2026 will broaden the conversation across the wider asset integrity, inspection, reliability, maintenance and engineering ecosystem, bringing together 17 international speakers and professionals from multiple technical and business disciplines.
The journey from Bintulu to Putrajaya represents more than the transition from one event to another. It represents IDC Training House’s continued effort to create meaningful industry platforms where asset owners, plant operators, engineers, inspectors, technicians, solution providers, technical institutions and other stakeholders can exchange knowledge, strengthen professional networks and explore opportunities for collaboration.
IDC’s Bintulu achievement has already demonstrated the demand, the strength of industry participation and the value of collaboration. The achievement summary identifies Bintulu as a credible foundation for the next platform and as evidence of IDC’s ability to mobilise industry participation and partnerships.
Bintulu made history. The momentum has been created. Now, the journey continues to Putrajaya with GAIIS 2026.
